Measuring of the choroidal thickness with Timug-Eye-Analyzer

Purpose: The separate imagination of choroid as part of the posterior wall of the eye could be found up to now in clinical ultrasound sonography by distance measuring between membrana limitans interna and the sclera, in retinal detachment or by visualisation of the retinal pigmentepithelium in AB-Scan. The Timug-Eye-Analyzer affords with high resolution colour enhanced frequency spectrum a modified way of separated thickness measuring in separate parts of the fundus.
Method: The Timug-Eye-Analyzer represents eye color-coded analysis of high frequency reflecting ultrasound. As standard the transducer was localized in the temporal inferior quadrant with rectangular impact on the nasal superior part of the fundus. We examined 58 patients in 4 groups: group 1:  young individuals under thirty years (n=17); group 2: older individuals older sixty years (n=25); group 3:  individuals before and after changing to laying position (n=9); group 4: pre- and postoperative examination by intraocular surgery (pars plana vitrektomie) (n=7).
Results: The Timug-Eye-Analyzer made it possible, to see the different layers of the fundus by colour-coded thickness measuring. The median choroidal thickness in group 1 was 0,65 Zurück | Back
