Diode Laser in Treatment of Traction Complications in Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy

Purpose: The aim of the study was to compare the efficiency of use argon laser with wave length 476,5 nm - 529 nm and diode laser with wave length 810 nm in the treatment patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), with severe traction complications.
Method: Panretinal photocoagulation was performed on 47 patients (78 eyes) with PDR in the age from 28 to 56 years. 17 patients (36 %) were underwent previously local laser photocoagulation in the posterior pole of the eye by « Visulas - Argon - II » (green wave). The patients were examined pre- and post-operatively by determining the BCVA, fundus - fotoregistration (BAS - 320 « Zeiss »), visual fields on 30 - 60° (« Humphrey» Model - 835).
Results: The first group - 23 patients (37 eyes - 47,4 %) was operated with argon laser by traditional method. The second group - 24 patients (41 eyes - 52,5 %) with diode laser (exept the posterior pole of the eye). According to the data we received the stable visual acuity were in 39 patients (65 eyes - 83 %) without any difference of the type of Laser using in treatment. The invariability of visual fields also were observed. After Ultrasound A/B - scanning we received in 29 eyes (78,3 %) partial and in 7 eyes (18,9 %) total vitreous posterior detachment in the first group, and in 13 eyes (31,7 %) partial and in 37 eyes (90,2 %) total vitreous posterior detachmen
