Purpose: Malignant glaucoma is a rare but devastating complication after filtration surgery in patients with narrow anterior chamber angle. In this study the safety and efficacy of primary cyclophotocoagulation (CPC) as a possible surgical alternative was assessed.
Method: In a retrospective study 8 patients with chronic glaucoma and narrow anterior chamber angle were treated with CPC in local anesthesia. Over a follow-up period of 6 to 16 months we evaluated the intraocular pressure (IOP), the number of medication, and the incidence of possible intra- and postoperative complications.
Results: Seven patients were treated preoperatively with YAG-laser-iridotomy. The mean number of laser exposures was 37.64.6.The mean preoperative IOP of 41.5±16.0 mmHg was significantly decreased to 16.0Zurück | Back
