Human Eye Experimental Model for Assessment of Intraocular Lens Quality

This work presents preliminary results of applied investigations aimed at the creation of a human eye experimental model for the quality of intraocular lenses to be assessed.
The intraocular lens (IOL) is placed in the model, and the limiting angular resolution or the acuity of vision, which can be provided by the test IOL relying on the detection of image elements is measured. The image is detected by a CCD-camera, and put to the computer. The proposed model almost entirely imitates full size the human eye optical system, and comprises models of the cornea, IOL, vitreous body, and the retina. The studies of optical quality of the cornea and IOL models fabricated from polymethylmethacrylate, and the retina model as well, have indicated that each element of the optical system provides singly the limiting angular resolution corresponding to the acuity of vision not worse than 1.
